- The first step to improve your productivity with relation to academics, is to make sure you have an interest in the course you have taken and its not something forced onto you by other people. If you have genuine interest in studies, they become less of a task, because you become curious to learn more. So, we must recognize our aptitude and interest and then pursue the course.
- Even if we are pursuing a course of our choice, we can come across some difficult or less interesting topics. We must identify them and put special efforts in them. One method is to take these topics up in the start so that you get through the difficulties first, then you can proceed with the easier and interesting topics.
- Making a time table helps. Although, its difficult to follow them, setting an agenda helps us gauge what we will do throughout the day and also motivates us. In it you can add the difficult topics first and later on add some of the topic which interest you. Also add breaks, sleep time and lunch time, and some recreational activities which can serve as rewards for doing the tasks you have set for yourself. Make sure the time table are realistic and personalized for you, don’t push yourself too much.
- Choose a quiet place to study, it may be some corner at home, where no one would distract you for the stipulated study time.
- Using memory techniques help too. Making flashcards and notes help in dividing the topics into smaller parts which are easier to learn. Making jingles and short-forms to remember points can help retain them for a longer time.
- Somedays we just can’t study no matter what. We just have too much on our mind. But sitting there and not being able to grasp anything doesn’t help, so it you cant study some days, get up from your table and go for a walk or do something else, because sitting there everyday without doing anything can form as a habit which we don’t want.
- But if this problem persists, its always okay to ask for professional help. Emotional problems can cause us distress and doesn’t let us study. But remember this doesn’t make you lazy, so don’t be harsh on yourself and try to understand the root cause.
- Lasty take care of your health, eat healthy food and stay hydrated. Vitamin and mineral deficiency can also make us distracted or sleepy, hampering our study time.
